The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
The website for the AAAS provides students with learning tools in the areas of science and technology. Here you'll find kid-friendly science news and web-based interactive games.

The American Red Cross
TThe American Red Cross offers disaster services and preparedness and safety information.

The Exploratorium
The Exploratorium is a non-profit science museum in San Fransisco, and on this website you'll find information about the 1989 earthquake "Loma Preita," ideas for hands-on lessons about earthquakes from The Learning Studio and other useful links related to earthquakes.

FEMA - Hazards Mapping Information Platform
Enter in your location (address, city or zip code) and get a map with details of natural hazard areas for floods, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes and/or earthquakes.

FEMA For Kids
Here you'll find information about natural and security-related disasters, including how to protect yourself, your home and your pets. Also, the site includes games and activities, homework help, preparedness tool kits for your family and pets, career advice and a video library and photos.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), Disaster Center
The HSUS provides comprehensive guides for disaster preparedness and response for those with pets, including horses and livestock.

Hurricane and Natural Disasters Information, NOAA Miami Library
Learn all about hurricanes, tornadoes, lightening, floods, hail, thunderstorms and extreme heat. You'll also find safety and preparedness information, statistics and aswers to common questions.

National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, For Students
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences provides kids with games and activities, a collection of stories, homework resources, sing-along songs and summer opportunities.

The non-profit National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) maintains this interactive website designed to teach kids and their families about fire safety. You'll find fun games and activities, safety tips and you can even ask Sparky your questions about fire.

Scholarships & Internships:

American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS) Internships
Information on internship opportunities with The Science and Human Rights Program. Activites will include researching topics important for science and human rights, assisting with publications and activites, and providing support for other project activites.

FEMA Internships
Information on how to apply for internships in several different FEMA offices.

NIEHS Library Internships
The award-winning National Institute of Environmental Health Services library primarily serves the 1,000 scientists and administrators at the Institute.
